Just bought the new A New Found Glory <\/a>CD yesterday.\u00a0 They have come a long way since they started.\u00a0 They certainly don’t sound like they’re 12 anymore.\u00a0 They don’t exactly sound grown up, yet, either.\u00a0 That’s cool.\u00a0 The new CD is fun.\u00a0 From the Screen to Your Stereo part II contains some very fun covers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ah, but I’m getting so bored, again, with all the pop-rock-we-want-to-call-it-punk-but-it’s-nowhere-near-the-realm-of-punk crap that’s getting made.\u00a0 Yeah, I wish the kind of music I really enjoy was being made, still, but it’s not.\u00a0 All that ’90’s stuff is way gone.\u00a0 Any remnants of it are purely coincidental at this point.\u00a0 Since Chris Carraba<\/a> personally decided to co-opt the “emo” label for himself, things have all gone sour.\u00a0 And I don’t even want to start about the term “emo” and how it never made any sense from the beginning.\u00a0 (Emotional?\u00a0 Isn’t all music supposed to evoke emotion and be about emotions?\u00a0 So ALL music is “emo”?)<\/p>\n

\u00a0Anyway.\u00a0 Raw.\u00a0 I want raw sounds.\u00a0 And loud.\u00a0 Dissonance (that eventually resolves . . .) .\u00a0 Substance . . . not emotional, lovesick, wishes for forgiveness and sad remembrances (unless they have some other kind of actual relevance).\u00a0 Something new.\u00a0 With actual talent.\u00a0 Any no whiny-boys with 16 year old vocal chords.\u00a0 Raw vocals.\u00a0 Deep vocals.\u00a0 Unless you happen to be a lady.\u00a0 Then be more like Hole<\/a> and Veruca Salt <\/a>than the sweet, syrupy sounds like Eisley<\/a> and Tegan & Sara<\/a>.\u00a0 YUCK!\u00a0 (Congrats, by the way, that you learned to harmonize in school.\u00a0 Now apply it in a more useful way, please.)\u00a0<\/p>\n

Anyone out there with suggestions?\u00a0 Please?\u00a0<\/p>\n
