\u00a0I’ve heard Hillary repeatedly claim that her healthcare plan is superior to all others, and it has sat rather uncomfortably with me since the beginning, especially because of a fact stated in Michael Moore’s film <\/span>Sicko<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>According to Michael Moore’s website, <\/span>Hillary Clinton became the second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions. (<\/span>Pasted from <<\/span>http:\/\/www.michaelmoore.com\/sicko\/checkup\/<\/span><\/a>>)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>This is supported by an article in the New York Times that states “As she runs for re-election to the Senate from New York this year and lays the groundwork for a possible presidential bid in 2008, Mrs. Clinton is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from doctors, hospitals, drug manufacturers and insurers. Nationwide, she is the No. 2 recipient of donations from the industry, trailing only Senator <\/span>Rick<\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/a>Santorum<\/span><\/a> of Pennsylvania, a member of the Republican leadership.” (<\/span>Pasted from <<\/span>http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/07\/12\/nyregion\/12donate.html<\/span><\/a>>)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I feel that this support that Hillary has received from the health care industry is in clear opposition to the whole idea of trying to regulate the industry to ensure that all Americans can afford care.\u00a0 <\/span>It’s a conflict of interest, and in another context it would be clearly outlined\u00a0 <\/span>as such.\u00a0 <\/span>Here’s another example.\u00a0 <\/span>Let’s say I am a contractor being paid by a company to consolidate their IT structure and eliminate unnecessary software, but I regularly receive money from Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and other major technology companies because I am a licensed reseller.\u00a0 <\/span>I could complete the job in an honest manner, exposing the redundancies in their systems.\u00a0 <\/span>It would not be impossible.\u00a0 <\/span>However, it would be in my best interest to convince them that I am consolidating their systems by selling them new software and making a commission off the sale while making money by completing the job.\u00a0 <\/span>That is a conflict of interest.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Senator Clinton’s acceptance of these donations is a conflict of interest and we cannot let her be in control of our future healthcare system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
