So I stumbled into this really neat way of turning what seem like doodles into little works of art. It’s called Zentangle. I’m not very good at drawing. And the few things I’ve completed that gained any recognition at all have been abstract. Most of my time in school was spent doodling in my notebook with small lines that connected over and over again in similar ways. It was very much like an undeveloped, primitive Zentangle.
Zentangles are done on a small scale – a 3.5″x3.5″ square – and involve repetitive patterns (wait, is that redundant?) that move into other patterns to complement and accentuate each other. The patterns are easy to learn and fun to draw.
I created two Zentangles within 24 hours of learning it. Here they are:
