I went to see the allergist the other day so he could tell me what I am allergic to. That was the worst fifteen minutes of my life. Except for the time I had a Bartholin’s Gland Abcess. (Don’t look that one up on the web if you are faint-hearted.) The items I am allergic […]
Jeremy Enigk – The Missing Link
I am currently listening to The Missing Link. I am sad to say that it’s exactly what I expected. After last year’s The World Waits, I wasn’t expecting to be excited by the music. Neither of these albums even compare to The Return of the Frog Queen. I guess some people reach their creative peaks […]
New Look
I changed the theme. I don’t know why I ever wanted to not use this one. Basically, I was sick of the other one not working with Firefox and other non-IE browsers. This one works with Firefox, at least. Any input on how it looks with other browsers?
I don’t like the drugs but the drugs like my doctor.
History: I’ve had allergies all of my life. I have had sinus problems all my life. I’ve spent way too much time around various kinds of smoke in various situations. Consequently, I’ve developed one of the most congested and infected sinus cavities on the planet (at least, by my estimation). I routinely have problems sleeping and, […]
Afraid of Losing It?
I lose things sometimes. Not as much as I used to, but sometimes I do. I’m sure you do, too. But if you lose an electronic device (such as a notebook computer, MP3 player, cell phone, Palm Pilot, etc.) it may have some capabilities of notifying you of its location. Lost? Check out this article […]
Radio Peeves
The two major rock stations in Milwaukee, FM102.1, and 102.9 The Hog, both have practices that I find completely disturbing. FM 102.1 is less disturbing to me, for the most part, because they’re not named “The Hog” and they actually play music I like (along with some crap, but less crap than other stations). My […]
Lowering our Carbon Footprint, #1
In response to Live Earth, I thought I would post some of the things we have done to lower our impact on the Earth. This post is about the most recent thing we’ve done, replacing our old gasoline-powered lawnmower with a person-powered push mower. This was a good idea for us for a couple of reasons. […]
Composting?
We’ve got some partially decomposed yard waste (don’t even ask how – it’s too embarrassing a story) and instead of throwing it away, I thought we might compost it and make it do good. Our municipality picks up “yard waste” as an individual item, seperate from trash and recyclables. Does that mean they have some […]
iWhat?
iPhone. It does everything except bake cookies. And they’re probably working on that. But what practical use could I find for it? If I buy an iPhone what other object that currently occupies space in my house/pocket/purse/car/etc. can I get rid of? I get it – it does Internet phone pictures video music Can I […]
Influenza
People tell me time and time again that nausea and other forms of upset stomach are not part of influenza. What I really think they mean is that being sick-to-your-stomach is not “having the flu”. I just had two of the worst days of my life. Between the nausea and other unmentionable stomach pains, the […]
